Unlike most fabrics, silk is very slippery and uses a certain type of production to get its silky feel. This type of fabric has a nice look and is very comfortable. This style was most likely made for comfortability and a nice feel to it. Silk also has a shimmering look to it. You wouldn't want little children or pets on a silk couch. Silk is very delicate.
